2025

The objective of this project was to design a cost-effective event concept for Museum Hack, focusing on creating an engaging and interactive experience that would attract a broader audience to the exhibit. The aim was to present the museum's offerings dynamically and artistically, encouraging visitor participation and enhancing their connection to the art. As part of the assignment, we conducted thorough research on event design strategies and audience engagement techniques, which we then synthesized into a comprehensive and visually compelling presentation to effectively communicate our proposal.

The Idea

The Lost & Found Event seeks to elevate the typical museum experience by transforming passive viewing into an immersive, engaging occasion through the use of live storytelling. This innovative approach reimagines traditional museum interpretation by giving each artwork a human narrative, sharing its journey and how it came to reside within the collection. By dramatizing the diverse paths and countless spectators who have traveled to see these pieces, the event highlights their cultural significance and historical value.

This humanization fosters empathy and strengthens visitor retention by creating a personal connection between the audience and the artwork. The experience is designed to resonate across generations: inspiring a sense of adventure and curiosity in younger visitors, evoking nostalgia among elderly guests, and providing middle-aged audiences with compelling reasons to travel and deepen their appreciation for art and history. Through this multifaceted engagement, the Lost & Found Event aims to broaden the museum’s appeal and deepen its cultural impact.

Putting Everything in Place

Ensuring that all criteria and requirements for the event were thoroughly met was a critical part of the planning process. I carefully considered the specific needs of the event, including logistics such as who should be positioned where and when. Designing a smooth and effective flow was my responsibility, requiring organization and attention to detail to ensure a seamless experience for both performers and attendees. Strong organizational skills were essential in managing these elements successfully.

Planning Out Preformances

Student volunteers will lead the performances, making it essential to design their structure carefully. Each six-minute session includes two minutes for the performance, two minutes for audience Q&A, and two minutes for reflection or additional questions. Planning also involved anticipating questions and researching to ensure accurate responses. This format fosters engagement and thoughtful interaction between performers and attendees.

Staying Budget Friendly

Maintaining a budget of under $250 was a key objective. While unanticipated expenses can arise in event planning, adhering to the budget remained a top priority. Designing an experience that was fun, interactive, and thought-provoking, while staying within financial constraints, presented a rewarding challenge throughout the process.
